PTU Tutorial: Jewel of the Sea

CT Tutorial for Digi Divas


Scrap Kit jewel of the sea designed by Scrappin with lil ole me
WOW....195 elements make up this beach / vacation taggers kit!! There are 25 beautiful papers at 1000 x 1000 pixels as well. This is a great kit for all your summer needs. There are coloful flowers, fish, shells, and even a few frames that are already decorated and waiting for your picture. Perfect for your beachy, summer and spring scrap and tag projects! This kit is Personal Use friendly.

I used a tube by ©VeryMany (mermaid 2) This tube is available at her store.
You must have a license and own this tube in order to use it in this tutorial

Tutorial Instructions


  • New image 800 X 800 FF white
  • New Layer Select All C/P Pp 10 into selection
  • Apply mask MD-maskset5-3 )or mask oof choice) merge group
  • E 64 R 68% move to top
  • C/P e 78 R 82% click inside frame with magic wand expand selection 5
  • c/p pp 3 as new layer R 82% move around to your liking. I placed the paper with the clam at the bottom of right.
  • C/P close up of tube (if using the same one R 52%
  • On frames paper layer S/F/D invert selection
  • On tube layer delete
  • Duplicate tube on bottom tube change blend mode to screen - on duplicated layer change blend mode to soft light (or whatever your preference)
  • E 138 R 50% inside lt corner of frame
  • E 175 anchor 1 move to top right over swirl
  • Duplcate - move duplicated layer under frame back on top layer with eraser tube remove part of the fish over frame
  • Close bg and mask layer
  • Merge Visible
  • Duplicate merged layer (frame)
  • Apply Guassian blur 4 then Xero Porcelain default setting change blue to 0
  • Change blend mode to screen (if you want a darker look try multiply or overlay)
  • Merge down
  • On top layer E 181 R 52% move to left over swirl
  • duplicate R 72% mirror
  • C/P E 44 place bottom center
  • C/P el 24 R 50% Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance Placement lower left
  • E 20 R 52% move in front of plant
  • C /P E 65 R 50% mirror move to bottom of frame
  • C/P E 7 R 50% X 2 placement: bottom left
  • C/P E 72 R 50% placement: bottom left
  • C/P tube R 62% then 90% (may be different depending on the tube you are using)
  • C/P E 43 R 50% move to right above mermaids' (tubes') tail
  • C/P E 177 R 50% then 75% placement: Bottom right
  • C/P E 84 R 50% X 2 placement: lower left
  • C/P El 39 R 50% placement: bottom right
  • C/P el 117 R 50X 2 placement: pkace one on either side of tube
  • Resign your canvas if you want to
  • Add your license # and copyright info
  • Close the white layer , or delete it
  • Add your name save as PNG and you are finished

  • New Image 700 X 700 FF white
  • Select All C/P pp 1 as new layer - crop to selection
  • Apply Filter Funhouse Mirror Moire with these settings: 15, repeat change to 65
  • Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance
  • Apply MoireMirror filter again changing to 116
  • Duplicate Mirror On duplicated layer change blend mode to multiply
  • On duplicated layer apply mask RD_MaskSet116_Mask1 Merge Group
  • On original paper layer Apply Mask RDMask_maskset116_Mask2
  • Merge Group
  • Merge Down
  • C/P E 21 move to center of canvas then down a little bit (Do not add a D/S to this layer)
  • C/P E 36 Place midway of grass layer (Do not add a D/S to this layer)
  • C/P E 4 R 52% move to upper right (Do not add a D/S to this layer)
  • C/P E 50 R 52% move to center right Duplicate Mirror
  • C/P E 13 R 72% You may need to move the flowers we just placed so they are partially under the frame.
  • C/P E 25 Move down
  • C/P E 10 R 68% move to right lower area of frame
  • C/P E 6 R 52% Free rotate all layers unchecked R 28.52 Move to right over grass
  • C/P E 1 Duplicate R 68% mirror move under grass. the other fish R 82% move to left center
  • C/P Dolphin from tube (if not using the same tube) or Chibi (E 26)
  • Instructions will be for Chibi but if using the dolphin R 32% then R 85%
  • C/P E 26 R 82% X 2 then R 92% place so that you can see the fish behind her
  • With the larger of the 2 fish Anchor 1 - then duplicate move duplicated fish above the mermaid
  • Erase the back part of the duplicated fish - so the fish looks as if it is swimming over mermaid tail
  • C/P E 27 R 62% move at top of mermaid C/P again R 72% move near bottle
  • E 24 (will use this element two more times) place at top of water / sand layer
  • E 9 R 72% move over sand
  • E24 place to right of water under bottle
  • E12 R 78% move to left of frame
  • Apply Funhouse MoireMirror Filter setting at 8 - then repeat
  • C/P E 23 R 62% - move to left
  • E 42 R 62% move to right beneath the 2nd wave layer
  • C/P E 38 move down until the bottom area of plant
  • Back on top layer C/P Tube (If you are using the one I am R 32% then 92% Mirror - move to left ) If using a different tube resize to fit your canvas
  • C/P E 24 (waves ) Move in front center at tip of water
  • C/P E 28 resize 60% duplicate move down below tube layer - place in front of cattails
  • Back on top layer - C/P E 28 R 60% then 80% place to the left of the tube
  • C/P E 18 R 50% move to left Duplicate Mirror R 80%
  • C/P E 46 R 50% move to right Duplicate R 90% mirror
  • Duplicate then R 75% mirror place above shell
  • C/P E 3 R 75% X 2 move to left under shell but above starfish
  • C/P E 2 R 50% then 75% move to right above flip flops
  • C/P E 29 place where you want it
  • C/P E 8 R 42% X 2 move to tip of starfish on the left side
  • C/P E 8 R 42% R 68% Move to right below the flip flops
  • Resize now if you want to
  • Add your license and copyright info
  • Close white bg - save a pspimage
  • Add your name - I used Fanatic Lite at 72 - Foreground: #2ad1e7 / background Gradient Foreground/Background R 0 A 0.
  • Save as PNG and you are done

New Tutorial Mermaid Ocean

This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP

Supplies Needed for this tutorial
Xero (Porcelain and Fritillary) FiltersAvailable Here

  • New 600 X 250
  • Flood fill with gradient settings: Foreground: #1a4f5d Background: #bcd6e5 linear 0 0
  • Select All
  • C/P pp 11 as new layer move up until you see the net and water swirls Crop to selection
  • flip Duplicate flip again
  • With selection tool draw out a rectangle at about the top 1/4th of the duplicated image. Edit - Clear
  • With eraser tool erase some of the paper at the clear line - see screen shot for reference - to blend the images. merge down duplicate




  • Duplicate - on duplicated area with selection tool go to custom selection with these settings: L - 300 L 600 top 125 bottom 250 clear select none
  • Custom selection - on same layer - with these settings: Top: 0 B: 125 R: 300 L: 0 Select none
  • Change blend mode to Luminance (l) adjust - blur - guassian blur 3
  • Close this layer for now
  • On bottom layer apply same guassian blur
  • Filter Xero: Fritillary default settings then Xero - Porcelain default settings
  • C/P tube as new layer R 75% Move to far left change blend mode to soft light
  • Open closed layer - this layer should be above the tube layer
  • Flaming Pear: Flood preset with these settings: [ 60 0 57 50 ] [40 50 42 25 color black] [0 33 40 ] refer to ss if needed




  • Filter Xero porcelain default setting
Adding the elements:
  • E 33 R 75% place right of center
  • E 48 R 75% move to left center
  • E 12 R 38% place on far right side
  • C/P tube as new layer mirror resize 50%
  • E 14 R 50% X2 duplicate
  • Place duplicated image on left side of canvas
  • original move in front and toward the top of mermaids mirror
  • Filter - Eye Candy 5 Impact perspective shadow settings with these settings:

    1. Tab: basic
    2. center offset 339
    3. center offset distance 65.76
    4. overall opacity 90
    5. overall blur 0
    6. perspective blur 6.98
    7. fade out 25
    8. reflect selection color and mask selection both checked.
    9. refer to screen shot if needed.

  • merge down (fish and mermaid should be on the same layer)
  • E 18 R 50% X 2 move to left of anchor change blend mode to Luminance (L) and opacity to 80
  • E 11 R 50% x 2 place toward bottom of canvas over bubbles
  • E 10 R 50% move to left bottom duplicate mirror on original grass layer change blend mode to luminance (l)
  • E 36 R 38% X 2 then 75% move to lower rt corner
  • Select 2 colors - 1 dark and 1 light - from your image I used Foreground: #1a4f5d Background: #bcd6e5
  • New layer - select all flood fill with dark color selection contract 2 flood fill with light color contract 2 flood fill with dark color contract 1 clear
  • Filter EC 5 Impact gradient glow with vaybs tiny double - first color should be the light color you used and the last color should be the dark.
  • Finished except for adding your copyright info and names.
  • If you want a tag blank to add names to tag later save as a pspimage after adding your copyright info
  • I used font secret of the octopus. I used the same colors I did for the borders and aded a tiny white gg
  • export save as jpg or png almost done
For avatar
  • On image we just made close teh border and copyright layer - Copy merged
  • New image 150 X 250 Paste as new layer move around until you have an image you like. I made 3 different ones so you can see how versatile and easy this method is
  • Once you have the image you like add a new layer
  • Do border as above except change contract by 2 to contract by 1
  • Add copyright info and name.
  • Save as jpg or png and you are done
